Renaming & Customizing Custom Post Types

Total includes filters for easily changing your post type names, but also it includes custom editor admin pages so you can tweak your post types without having to mess with any code – yay! Under each post type in the admin panel you will find a “Post Type Editor” page where you can make all your edits, see the example below:

Changing URL Structure: If you want to change the URL structure for your post type, for example the Portfolio post type uses the structure site.com/portfolio-item/x for your portfolio posts, then you will want to alter the “Post Type: Slug” setting. It’s very important though, because of how WordPress works your post type slug should not be the same as the post type name as this can create conflicts so it is not recommended to use “portfolio” for the slug in this case.
